It’s the first of its kind, but Robert Doyle — who is behind the inaugural edition of “Doyle’s Almanac of Newfoundland” — hopes this is just the first edition of many.
Doyle, a pharmacist who owns Theatre Pharmacy in St. John’s, is the grandson of Gerald S. Doyle who as well as being an independent pharmacist was best known for collecting folksongs and putting them together in the now locally famous “Gerald S. Doyle Songbook.” He did so as he travelled the province selling vitamins and other pharmaceutical products.
